In a world where access to clean water is a natural human right, countless communities still suffer to secure this basic resource. One such community is Deir-ul-Balah City in the Gaza Strip. This region faced challenges obtaining clean water due to political conflict, infrastructure issues, or economic hardships. Recently, Children’s Aid stepped forward to save these residents with clean water in Deir-ul-Balah.
Deir-ul-Balah has a population of around 62,000. The current blockade and periodic flare-ups of conflicts in Gaza have hit the town very hard. Its infrastructure is very old and damaged; its water resources are controversial, polluted, and insufficient for the needs of the population. Most of the time, residents rely on water trucked in, which is not reliable and safe. This context poses high threats to health, especially for children, who are more vulnerable to waterborne diseases.
Such success is therefore exemplary for different communities faced with similar challenges. Children’s Aid remains true to its mission and hence aims to continue reaching out and supporting communities in need, spreading hope and health as they go.
If you’d like to help us continue our mission to help more communities in need get access to clean water consider donating or volunteering your time. Together, we can make a difference that will last and provide what every child needs to prosper.
